Leadership team

Lewis A. Hassell, MD

Chair

As I have grown older, and a bit wiser, I feel most passionate about solving the big problems with wide impact. One that lies close to my areas of ability is the challenge of more equitable access to pathology services, as a key to quality health for the world’s population. Far too many areas of the world are stymied by the total absence of pathologists, and even more are hampered by inadequately trained pathologists. I believe the tools we now have in digital pathology and remote learning enable us to solve this problem, and that doing so will change the outcome for millions of patients, particularly those from developing areas of the world, who will develop cancers, heart disease, diabetes, or other disorders that will otherwise disrupt families, careers, and shorten life. I believe we can make a difference in this story and am devoting my talents to do so.
