OPEN exists to provide ready access to quality pathology education that has been curated, organized and presented to help expand the workforce of qualified pathologists in the world, thus improving the health and well-being of humanity.

OPEN is offered at no cost to trainees, accessible through low-bandwidth devices.
Creation of a learning management system through which trainees and pathologists can gain access to curated and complete curriculum pathology educational content
Adapt content from a variety of freely available sources, and collaborate with other content providers to enable charitable use of restricted content
Facilitate networking and mentoring among network members, including live virtual teaching sessions
Track activity and offer certificates of module completion, as well as potentially other means of competency validation, such that competency is validated and usefully applied to practice in real world settings.
Collaborate with other stakeholders to equip laboratories such that skills can be applied to better serve health needs in local settings.
